Lemonade Stand...
I grew up in a small neighborhood on the outskirts of town called Oak Acres. During that time, this one road neighborhood lined homes down Route 1 (Lot 274 to be exact) in a setting to give you space that living in the city could not give but give you community that living out in the country could not.
Yet, I still set up a lemonade stand...
Those who purchased my summery beverage included my parents, my older brothers and their girlfriends and maybe one neighbor who actually past my stand. It surely did not foster thoughts of entrepreneurship or world dominace into the minds of this young girl. Yet...it did serve a purpose.
Since those summers of childhood, life has handed me many lemons. It is only in recent years that I have learned the art of learning to live with the lemons. I guess you are waiting me for the say that I turned them all into lemonade and savored the fruits of my labor to do so but there is nothing further from the truth.
Yet... I did learn:
---- that sometimes we can't turn lemons into lemonade if we waited too long and they were bruised and soured.
---- that sometimes that we quickly grab them and use them in the garbage disposal to add fragrance a wretched smell.
---- that sometimes we just set them around to make our kitchen look domesticated or "homey".
---- and most importantly I learned that some of the best refreshment you can have is a glass of sugary lemonade that is made from squeezing the juice so hard that you get every drop of the flavor out of it.
Life is full of things that don't go the way we want them to but we are the only one who can decide what we do with them.
